Activities of the Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific are summarised as following Programmes:
- Programme A:
- The improvement of animal health information systems in the subregions of South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia and the Pacific through meetings, workshops, training programmes, consultancy services and publications related to animal disease surveillance and control.
- Programme B:
- The control of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Asia has been integrated in Programme G (GF-TADs) since April 2006.)
- Programme C:
- The prevention and control of emerging diseases in Asia and the Pacific by collecting information and strengthening countermeasures.
- Programme D:
- The standardisation of veterinary biologics used in Asia and the Pacific in harmonisation of control methods and techniques.
- Programme E:
- The prevention and control of diseases of fish and other aquatic animals through meetings, workshops and publications.
- Programme F:
- The prevention and control of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and other Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSEs) in Asia and the Pacific by strengthening risk analysis and diagnosis/surveillance.
- Programme G:
- The prevention and control of main trans-boundary animal diseases, such as Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Asia and the Pacific through activities of the Permanent Secretariat of the Regional Steering Committee of the Global Framework for progressive control of Trans-boundary Animal Diseases (GF-TADs) by strengthening disease control mechanism including epidemiological functions and strengthening capacity building on legislation and on laboratory diagnosis.
- Programme H:
- Prevention and control of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) by strengthening animal health information net working, strengthening capacity of Veterinary Services including legislation, laboratory diagnosis and surveillance of wild birds and poultry along migratory flyways and establishment of a data base for Avian Influenza and provision of training programmes and laboratory equipment/materials.
- Programme I:
- OIE Animal Health and Welfare Fund for identification of priority investments, training trainers, and evaluation of veterinary services, promoting animal welfare activities by helping countries implement OIE' s animal welfare guidelines.
Under Programmes A and B, animal disease information on 34 diseases common in this region and other diseases of importance is collected. Information collected is published in the following two publications:
- OIE Quarterly Epidemiology Report
- OIE Regional Epidemiology Yearbook
In addition to the above, foot and mouth disease (FMD) situation in South-East Asia is collected on a monthly basis and circulated in the FMD Monthly Report published by the Regional Representation until August 1998 and by the FMD Regional Coordination Unit in Bangkok from September 1998.
From January 2000, information on FMD in South Asia is collected on monthly basis and the Monthly Reports are published.

- OIE Regional Aquatic Animal Disease Yearbook
